ladies and gents,
welcome to the first installment of a new music project started here in portland called
harken!
zigs and i met up at my place and headed down to the headquarters of these numbers have faces, who were kind enough to let us record in their office which overlooks southeast portland. every time i spend time with matt i feel like i absorb wisdom and maturity as if by osmosis.
the depth of his soul comes across in his songwriting.
and every time i hear the guy sing… well… i’ll let you just listen and find out yourself. zigs is releasing an album sometime in the next month or two, so stay posted for details on that.
until next time,
enjoy my friends

storytime!
a year ago i filmed the wedding of this beautiful girl to the equally beautiful ben peterson. ben had been the
ben had been the subject of more than one campaigns to get him married… his friends made t-shirts, wrist bands, etc and recruited people all over the portland metro area to join the get ben married campaign.
ben wouldn’t have it. it was going to take a really special girl to win his heart.
enter fibia. one of the sweetest, kindest, and most beautiful girls in the world. they met at a show, and it was pretty instantaneous, from what i understand.
a couple years later, they were saying their vows up on stage at one of the most beautiful weddings i’ve been to, surrounded by amazing friends and family that literally made me both laugh and cry that day… a lot.
ben and i agreed to keep the video hostage for their one year anniversary. so check this out…. this weekend he took fibia to a town in central orgeon called bend to celebrate their first year of marriage. last night, he rented out a movie theatre in town, and together they watched the video for the first time on the big screen.
i put together a 30 minute feature of their day as well, but the teaser is up on my vimeo now, so go check it out.
ben + fibia are one of the coolest couples i know, and i’m so blessed to call them friends. they are going to grace the world with some beautiful babies someday, no lie. i just hope they don’t come out of the womb with ben’s beard.
a while back, i got to work with george fox university again on a cool project. i never posted it here, so i thought i’d share it with you!
i have a friend named bucky who had been telling me for a few months he had an idea he wanted to run by me. last week we finally got together over lunch and he told me about his grand plans.
the next morning i was in his boat before dawn filming this video.
it was one of the most beautiful days i’ve had in a long while, and i had a bunch of time in between filming to just sit and be, to think and be introspective, to take in the beauty around me.
i’m excited to share a touch of that beauty with you,
but more so excited to share with you this amazing story and even more amazing undertaking.

he decided long ago that fishing would be something that would stick in his life. or maybe it had chosen him.
either way, since he was a little kid fishing has always been a part of his life that has helped define him.
and now he’s found a way to use this personal passion to impact the lives of those around him and change the lives of those in need around the world.

rachel is one of the most creative and delightful people i know. i found her on instagram through some mutual friends and after seeing some of her work, i knew she was going to be big, and i wanted to help blow her up.
i knew i had to find a way to do a video with her. and now we’ve done it. for your viewing pleasure.

cassandra and jason were a handful. i felt like i was filming my big fat romanian wedding. there were more family members than i thought was humanly possible…. romanians were coming out of the woodworks asking me to take pictures of stuff for them. but after spending a day with the couple, i felt like i was hanging out with friends. jason and cassandra are two beautiful, capable, and strong people. their wedding day was chaotic to the core, but they both took everything in stride and demonstrated resolve and determination, and a reliance on each other that i know will serve their marriage well. after the honeymoon, jason was stealing cassandra away from her intensely close family and taking her with him to arizona. the tension was in the air, and it was kinda poetic… the horga family is exactly that: a family. i don’t know that i’ve ever seen one so fiercely tight-nit. it was actually a really awesome thing to experience.
they are currently back in town for the week and i had the privilege of meeting up with them the other night to watch this video with them for the first time, and i don’t think i’ve ever enjoyed watching a couple see their teaser as much as i did with them. they both have this passion for life that runs deep, jason’s might be a little quieter than cassandra’s but both are equally as deep and turbid. and they love each other. i dare you to watch this video and see the way they look at each other and try to say that love isn’t real. this couple will quiet the cynics.
thank you so much jason and cassandra for being awesome people, i’m stoked to call you guys my friends now.
and thanks to the horga family for being so much fun and keeping the laughs coming all day long
huge thanks to colin cabalka (www.colincabalka.com) for helping me shoot this wedding.
love to you guys, hope arizona doesn’t keep you forever, i wanna see you back in town soon so we can grab some drinks together (if romanians allow that sort of thing…….)
