About
cinematic wedding videos.

my name is ian pratt and i am a filmmaker who has fallen in love with shooting wedding videos. a wedding is a beautiful thing and a video is an amazing way to remember your day for the rest of your relationship.
2012 is here! time to start thinking about making memories for your wedding!

tyson + michelle

i have this friend named zigs.
he’s the kind of kid everyone wants to be friends with.
so he calls me up one day and tells me he wants me to film an engagement vid for his buddy tyson. i was busy so i passed.

that video now has over 275,000 views on youtube.
dang.
(youtube.com/watch?v=TECPJI6Z2gs)

but it’s pretty clear why:
they are amazing.

it’s an honor for anyone to even witness honest, real, true love, let alone be in the presence of it.

since meeting them, tyson and michelle have totally made me fall back in love with love. they are adorable together, and the love they have for each other goes way beyond a passionate puppy love…… which they totally have.
they have that real, honest, true love. and i am so blessed to have been able to share this day with them.

// the song in this video is about tyson and michelle.
literally. it was written by matthew zigenis, tyson’s old roommate during the beginning stages of their relationship when they were falling in love. that should tell you a little something about them //

tyson and michelle, it was an honor to spend the day with you guys, and even more of an honor to call you guys my friends.

i love you guys, and hope to be in your beautiful lives for a long time.

krystle + dane

so i spent the first half of july out of the country, filming in india. i got home on the 21st and 2 days later was shooting this wedding.
let me tell you…. it was such a nice way to come home.

for those of us with restless hearts, wanderlust in our veins, nothing feels like home quite like love. if you’re the same as me, you’ll know what i’m talking about. when you have that someone, no matter where you are, no matter where you’re going, you still feel that still, quiet peace wrapping it’s arms around you… you’re at home.

for those of you who don’t know what i’m talking about… i hope you can catch a glimpse of it in this amazing couple, krystle and dane. they’ve been together a majority of their lives, and that quiet peace i was talking about… they have it. you can see it in their eyes when they look at each other, you can hear it in the words they say to each other… they are each other’s home.

and in a world as cynical towards love as ours is, that’s a rare thing.

dane + krystle, thanks for letting me share in your day, and i hope you guys have those 4 kids and 2 dogs that you wanted ;) no cats though. nope.

yesterday i had the privilege of hanging with this amazing couple for a bit and shooting some engagement photos with them. i will be filming their wedding on july 30 and can’t wait. such beautiful people, inside and out! meet hannah and justin!

new years eve. one of the most looked forward to, and most dreaded nights of the year. second maybe to valentines day. after a couple consecutive mixed bag new years, this year i had the honor to spend the last night of 2010 in the presence of true love.
jenny + michael were such a cute couple, and such a pleasure to work with. don’t be deceived by the warmth of their smiles, it was FREEZING outside that day, but they still were up to go out and take a few pictures and a little video before huddling back into the warmth and the celebration.
michael’s heart is evident through this video, kind, gentle, funny, and down right sexy, it was such an honor to get to know him a little. and jenny, well, her beauty speaks for itself.
i hope you enjoy this little video of their special day, and jenny + michael, i wish you all the best as you embark on this journey of life together!!

i shot a wedding on new years eve and had an amazing day hanging out with jenny and michael, an amazing couple. we spent the day in downtown portland between the paramount hotel, st. steven’s catholic church, and the art museum. it was a long day, but a good one. here’s a screenshot from the footage.

It’s amazing how some people just catch you, something deep inside of you recognizes something deep inside of them and you’re hooked. That’s how it is with Pieter. From the time that I was a little kid playing basketball with him, I knew the same thing that every other little boy on that team knew… Pieter was special. He’s one of those guys that you meet and never forget. There’s something about him, something in his gentle and peaceful demeanor that makes you feel at ease, but doesn’t quite keep you from detecting that what lies beneath is the heart of a warrior. I moved away when solid friendships were being formed back in middle school and have always slightly regretted not having him in my life more. He’s one of those guys that makes you believe in yourself. And in humanity.

His story with Monica is one for the books. Monica and Pieter’s families were friends, so they grew up together: vacationing, adventuring, etc. I guess it’s just one of those Providence things… proof that God knows what he’s doing. There’s really no better way to do it than to marry your best friend, and that is exactly what these 2 did.
As long as I’ve known the 2 of them, I don’t think there was ever a question in anyone’s mind that they were meant for each other. They have such a natural relationship that wether they’re staring into each other’s eyes or standing on completely opposite ends of a room from each other, you can feel the connection, almost as if their 2 hearts beat as one.

Monica is the perfect girl for Pieter. Every bit as real and human as Pieter, you can tell that an adventurer’s soul lies beneath her gentle smile. There’s a quite confidence in her face that comes with loving and being loved with whole heart and full abandon.

Pieter and Monica have been an inspiration and a model of purity and love to countless people who know them, myself included. I was so honored to be a part of their day, and I hope that as you watch this video, the transformative power of love, more specifically their love, brings a little bit of a glimmer to your life and to your day.

Pieter and Monica, thanks for being you. I can’t wait to see what grand adventures are in store for you.

lovers in taiwan.
this was one of the most fun weddings i’ve been to in a long time. maybe it had something to do with the beautiful scenery, the fact that the sun burst out of the clouds just in time for a beautiful ceremony; maybe it had to do with the anticipation that traveling such a long distance for many of the guest created; maybe it was the delicious food or the amazing live music. or maybe it was something deeper. maybe —and i have my money on this one— maybe the excitement and energy and life that defined the day was a reflection and result of the electric love that brian and annebelle so obviously have. looking at them together, you can’t help but feel something inside you come alive, some flurry of hope or desire that you can’t quite put your finger on, but can’t keep from smiling nonetheless.
when i first met brian and annebelle i left feeling a little high on life. that’s true love. contagious. encouraging. inspirational.
brian and annebelle both have a passion for sharing with others. they met while teaching english to children in taiwan. pretty fitting, seeing how goofy and full of life they are. these are the kind of people i want to teach my kids when that day comes. these are the kind of people you’re glad to meet, and to have spent an amazing day with. brian and annebelle, thanks for sharing such a special day with me, and i wish you all the best as you return to taiwan!

it started as a plot between two best friends.
your daughter is single, my son’s coming to visit…
maybe she could show him around town…. i mean, if you come to alaska, you need someone young and energetic to show you around!

what started as a chore has grown into something that i was blessed to spend the day in the presence of on the 19th… true love.

“you are my inspiration, my hope, and my future, and it is you that i give my heart to forever and always”

the vows they read to each other said it perfectly, and this last line should give you a little idea of what everyone else in the room witnessed. the care and support they share for each other was so evident it was hard not to grin like a little kid.

as travers goes off to law school, sara plans to to work and support him. when he’s done with school and starts working again, she will go back to school. together they will go further faster than they ever could have on their own. and that’s how it should be i think; life and marriage should be embarked upon together as a team. this video proudly presents this amazing team together for the first time.

sara and travers, you guys will go far, and no matter where that road takes you, having each other there will make all the difference for you. thanks for letting me share in your lives and in your day.

i was looking at him look at her through my glass and i thought to myself, this guy is completely smitten! i swung my camera back over to her looking at him and realized she had it just as bad.
these two have a love that could fight off world problems like hatred and discrimination. watch the video and you’ll see what i mean.

they had an electric start…. literally. sneaking into a not-so-abandoned power plant with some friends was just one of the first adventures this couple have embarked upon together. over a year later, brad planned on popping the big question at a romantic picnic. he had it all set up and they drove out to the spot together, but when the time came to get out of the car, it was so cold they opted for a back-seat dinner instead. if you ask me, getting engaged over a back-seat picnic suits this couple perfectly. they’re both so full of life and goofiness that nothing ordinary or boring would do.

the wedding was a small family oriented one that was just gorgeous, and meg and brad were such a pleasure to work with. i met meg’s sister emily at the camp i’m working at this summer and then met meg at the local church up here in the talkeetna mountains in alaska. the whole family is such a tight and amazing family, it was really a blessing to get the chance to share such a special day with them.
meg and brad, you guys are inspiring, and i hope this helps you remember your wedding day for as long as we still have tvs and computers to watch it. you guys are beautiful.
